NECK AND CERVICAL VERTEBRAE PAIN

Characteristics of cervical vertebrae pain:

Cervical vertebrae pain or neck pain are unpleasant sensations that are located in the neck or radiating in areas close to it and produce a difficulty in neck movements.

Neck muscles exert a constant work in having to hold the head straight. Average weight of a head is estimated at about 4 kg, so neck muscles are constantly under stress. Causing excessive tension or repetitive work in a difficult position, these muscles may subject them to too high a stress that is manifested as muscle contractions.

Nervousness, anxiety are also reflected in this zone causing greater tension and pain in the neck.

Vertebrae in the neck area are also subjected to constant friction because of the movements of the head. They suffer more than vertebrae in other areas of the body. This is the cause of many pains in the cervical area.

Stiffness or neck pain is a major cause of pain for all people regardless of age, race or sex. This is especially true in people who force their neck muscles, such as hairdressers who should hold their head bent forward for long hours, working computer who must keep the head rigid for a long time. There are also very common neck injuries caused in traffic accidents, especially as a result of whiplash neck suffers when the vehicle in which you are traveling is bumped from behind.

Pain in the cervical vertebrae can be:

- Acute: when presented in a sudden way. It is often the direct result of a momentary tug or of a very strong effort which produces an injury to the neck muscles.

- Chronic: It is the pain that comes on a recurring basis and may be the result of many causes.

Symptoms of cervical vertebrae pain:

The main symptoms of cervical pain are: Heaviness in the neck, pain in the upper back, stiff neck, shoulders weight feeling , etc.

Causes of cervical vertebrae pain:

The main causes of cervical pain are:

- Physical Symptoms of a disease or anomaly: There are some diseases or anomalies in the cervical zone that can produce cervical pain. For example, we could mention diseases that produce an inflammation of the zone like rheumatic diseases, fibromyalgia , or growth of tumors in the neck or spine; spinal problems, such as herniated cervical or birth defects of the vertebrae; neck manifestations of infections such as meningitis or mumps; bone problems, such as osteoporosis or osteoarthritis, collateral problems incurred in menstruation, such as pains in the neck, head, back, stomach, etc.

- Temporary physical efforts: They cause possible injuries to the muscles or the cervical vertebrae. Among the principal ones we could mention traumatisms, car accidents, blows, sports injuries, etc.

- Continued efforts or tensions in the cervical area. When muscles or neck vertebrae are subjected to continuous stress, they can express pain in this area. Among the most common ones, we have poor postures when sitting, as in the case of clerks and taxi drivers; awkward postures at work with a position that forces the neck or shoulders. such as the work of a barber , tailor, computer workers, etc.

Diagnostics and treatment of cervical vertebrae pain:

The presence of pain in the cervical area requires a visit to the doctor or specialist who will diagnose the reasons that cause this pain. This is particularly necessary when the neck pain is accompanied by other symptoms such as stiffness or fever. In this case, the physician should rule out the possible existence of an infectious disease.

If you suffer some kind of strong trauma (fall, car accident, stroke, etc) or you have experienced a whiplash or sharp prick in the neck, you should go to your doctor as soon as possible.

A diagnosis is required, and a patient's history can reveal your doctor about your usual activities. Physical examination of the area or surrounding areas is generally necessary . The doctor may use X-rays or other tests to rule out tumors. Blood tests will determine if any infectious or rheumatic disease produces such pain.

The treatment of back pain needs in most cases a change in work habits or in the instruments used to reduce tension in this area. The decrease of stress in general result in less strain on the neck.

When pain is a result of disease, it is generally possible to eliminate symptoms.

The natural treatment of neck pain requires the use of a series of natural resources that will help prevent or diminish this pain.
