Family: Nightshade family - Solanaceae.
 
Habitat: In waste land with garbage.
 
Alkaloids: Atropine ( C17 H 23O3 N) , hyoscyamine and hyoscine
 
Active parts: The whole plant, specially , the young parts.
 
Uses : Ophthalmologic examinations, stomachic spasms, epilepsy and asthma.
 
Toxicity: Very high.

Symptoms: Pupil dilation, mouth and skin dryness, hallucinations, tremor and coma.


Medical treatment: Emetics, stomach washings and heart stimulants.
