HOW TO GROW BLACKBERRIES
A detail of the fruits
Woody shrub provided with deciduous stems, angular and strong spines, in tender youth. As they grow because of their own weight,they bend towards the ground.
Compound leaves with five leaflets ovate teeth with well marked nerves, bright and sessile; underside with white hairs.
Flowers up to about 3 cm white or pink, with five petals and five sepals, gathered in clusters at the ends of branches.
Black fleshy fruits consisting of small drupes gathered around a common axis (polydrupes). Flowers are ripe from the peak month well into October.
Although it can only grow with rain water, for optimal growth prefers regular watering in which the soil is always fresh.

Reproduce by cuttings or suckers in winter or spring seeds. It is best to cut the branches at ground level after fruiting to encourage the growth of young branches, more productive and prevent the plant from spreading too by developing pacifiers from branches that touch the ground. In many cases, the absence of adequate control becomes an invasive plant.
