What are cereals?

Cereals are foods from the grain of gramineae, a type of herbaceous plants that produce spikes.

Among the major cereals we have: rice, wheat, barley, sorghum, oats, millet, rye or corn.

Cereals are important because they contain many carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals and fiber, five nutrients that are necessary for our body to function properly.
