Eye floaters natural treatment
EYE FLOATERS NATURAL TREATMENT
Characteristics of floaters
Seeing floaters is an eye disorder in which people who suffer it see spots, stains, cobwebs or irregular shapes floating in front of their eyes. They are percieved as dark color spots that change their situation as affected people move their eyes, such as if they were flies that were flying in front of their sight. This is scientifically known as myodesopsia, although people commonly call them "floaters"
It occurs more frequently in people with impaired vision, those who are already nearsighted or who have undergone surgery of the eye.
They are very annoying, especially when focusing one's eyes on a sheet of paper, or when having a white background. They are more pronounced in summer than in winter because during this season there is more light.
In most cases, although they not disappear, they have no more importance than being a nuisance. People who have them tend to get used to this disorder and did not even realize their precesence.
Symptoms of floaters
The main symptoms of floaters are: spots in vision, such as threads or black or grey specks that are seen when looking at something; vision blurred as if stained or cobwebs, spots on the eyes moving when looking at objects especially on a white background, etc..
Causes of floaters
The eye spots are caused by the presence of impurities floating in the vitreous retina humour, which is the liquid that fills the eye socket. These detritus hinder the arrival of the beams of light onto the retina, and appear visually as spots. They are mainly the result of the thickening of small fragments of vitreous humour or small remnants of collapsed sections of the retina.
Some other eye disorders could cause similar effects, such as macular edemas resulting from cataracts surgery, asteroid hyalosis, produced by other body disorders (hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol)
Sometimes they can be produced by accumulation of red blood cells, such as in people with retinal detachment, or by accumulation of white blood cells. The latter case is quite common in people suffering from toxoplasmosis, which is the condition of those infected with Toxoplasma gondii.
Diagnosis and treatment of floaters
Any eye problem first requires a visit to a specialist who will provide you a diagnosis about it. This is especially required for retinal detachment or for glaucoma whose appropriate and quick treatment is needed to avoid the visual loss in the affected eye.
Floaters are not generally serious, however, if you experience a sudden increase of your floaters or you happen to see bright lights or any sudden change in your vision, you should visit your doctor doctor as soon as posible. This will be able to discard other more severe eye disorders.
There is no treatment for eye floater. In many cases the eye itself absorbs the eye impurities and the disorder disappears by itself. In other cases, the person becomes accustomed to its presence.
For more serious cases there are some surgery procedures that can be used, such as vitrectomy or laser vitreolysis. The first one is scarcely adviced because of its potencial side effects (retinal detachment, cataracts, etc). Laser vaporization of floaters is a very new technique, less dangerous than vitrectomy but few specialist can perform it.
The natural treatment of eye floaters involves using a series of plant resources that will prevent them or delay their occurrence.
