Common violet contains many anti-inflammatory and analgesic principles (salicylic acid, methyl salicylate, eugenol, beta-sitosterol, quercetin, rutin, etc.) which can be very effective in the treatment of arthritis or osteoarthritis pain.
Violet ointment recipe
- 60 g of lard.
- 1 handful of fresh leaves of violets.
- Heat the lard in an earthenware pan.
- When the butter becomes liquid, add the fresh leaves of violets.
- Boil for 60 minutes.
- Turn off the heat.
- Filter and store in a glass container in a cool, dry place away from light.
