Solanum melongena L. – (Aubergine, eggplant)

Annual plant of the Potato family -solanaceae- up to 1 m. Erect stems. Thick leaves, ovate, pubescent, with long stalks. Violet purplish flowers, till 3 cm wide. Edible fruit in cherry, dark purplish (aubergine). Cultivated in orchards because of the fruits.
