Viola bubanii Timbal-Lagr. – (Pansy of Montseny)

This beautiful pansy dedicated to the famous botanist Pietro Bubanii who spent most of his life to the study of the Pyrenees. Spread mainly through the Atlantic, it has its most extreme location in Montseny. In Iberian Peninsula it can be found in some places of the Pyrenees and Cantabrian Mountains.

Description: Perennial, herbaceous plant of the Violet family –violaceae– generally upright and slightly hairy. Soft stems. Ovate or oblong-ovate leaves, stalked, somewhat wavy. Flowers from 2 to 3.5 cm. purple blue, flowering from the beginning of Mars to late October. Very common by the clearings of deciduous woods and in high mountain moorlands.
