Cellulite is not just a cosmetic problem, but it is a metabolic disorder characterized by an the alteration of adipose tissue cells (adipocytes), which, having a deficient drainage, become inflamed, enlarged and more rigid than normal.
Cellulite becomes a circulatory and lymphatic problem, besides the consequent aesthetic problem
Cellulite is a very common complaint among women, and one of the main sources of personal concern, since most often it can appear from adolescence.
More than 90 % of women have it in a certain degree once they attain puberty
Men are not so likely to suffer it, except in some cases related with sexual male hormones problems (androgens deficiency)
What areas of the body are most often exposed to cellulite?
thighs and stomach are especially susceptible to accumulate fat, because in these areas the skin is attached to the muscle by a mesh structure. When fat increases, focuses on the gaps between the skin and muscle, causing the dimples associated with cellulite.
How does cellulite occur?
Cellulite in the legs
This takes place in four phases:
First stage: The drainage area starts malfunctioning. At this stag, there are not very noticeable signs of cellulite.
Second stage: The connective tissue begins to overload, which causes the drainage of the area to be deficient because the capillaries are compressed. During this phase, zone edema occurs.
Third phase: The lymphatic system begins to be congested; poor drainage in the affected areas is installed and nodules form, what are popularly called " dimples ".
Fourth phase: as the tissue becomes denser, it becomes fibrous, more compacted and trapping capillaries and nerve endings. This makes the passage of nutrients to be defective and causes pain.
As there is a poor oxygenation and nutrition, poisoning occurs because the area retains waste substances.
