Perennial plant in the native place; cultivated as annual in less hot climates.

Crawling stems, climbing sometimes which spread around the center. Round leaves, highly divided, with a strong venation and with the petiolated in the center. Tubular flowers, open at the tip, trumpet- shaped. Five petals, ending in a long spur. Superior lip bilobed; inferior one, trilobed. The flowers present a wide range of colours, from bright red to cream or yellow.

It blooms from summer to the end of autumn.

We must water it frequently, although it must never be soaked. Soil should always keep a certain degree of humidity.
