Quercus suber L. - (Cork oak)

Evergreen tree of the Pine family -Fagaceae- up to 20 m, although it usually does goes further than 15 m. Erect gray stems covered with a rough and thick bark (Cork). Stems. Very tortuous branches, also covered with cork. Elliptic leaves, bright green above, not pubescent, and white underside, up to 6.5 cm long, lobed or serrate, with some teeth. Flowers yellowish, gathered in up to 8 cm aments. Fruits in nut (acorns), dark brown at maturity, covered halfway with a cup provided with elongated scales.

It can be found in siliceous Mediterranean forests, along with other trees such as white pine (Pinus halepensis) or the stone pine (Pinus pinea).
