Home made violet ointment to soothe pain

Common violet contains many anti-inflammatory and analgesic principles (salicylic acid, methyl salicylate, eugenol, beta-sitosterol, quercetin, rutin, etc.) which can be very effective in the treatment of arthritis or osteoarthritis pain.

Violet ointment recipe


– 60 g of lard.

– 1 handful of fresh leaves of violets.


– Heat the lard in an earthenware pan.

– When the butter becomes liquid, add the fresh leaves of violets.

– Boil for 60 minutes.

– Turn off the heat.

– Filter and store in a glass container in a cool, dry place away from light.

How to use it?

Apply it with a cloth over the painful area.
