What is tartar sauce?
Tartar sauce is a type of sauce, which derives from mayonnaise.

History of tartar sauce
Tartar sauce comes from France, and his name “Tatar” referred to the Tartars, the Mongolian people. It is believed that the name “tartar sauce” refers to use in typical preparations of the Tartars, as an accompaniment to meat and fish.
