The Rockrose family - Cistaceae- comprises about 150 species of mainly Mediterranean plants. They are almost always bushes.

Cistus creticus Linne.

Leaves ( 1 ) : simple, opposite, with or without stipules.
Stems ( 2 ): Ligneous. Very seldom herbaceous. (Tuberaria)
Flowers :

With radial symmetry. solitary or in little dense cymes.
Calyx ( 3 ) : 3-5 free sepals.
Corolla ( 4 ) : 5 petals which wither quickly.
Stamens : Many , free.
Ovary : superior with 3-5 carpels.
Style: 1
 
Fruit:

Capsule.
