Papaver rhoeas L. – (Common poppy)

Annual herb of the Poppy family -papaveraceae- up to 70 cm. Erect stems, hairy. Composite leaves, toothed leaflets, pointed, upper ones sessile. Flowers 4- 10 cm wide, scarlet, sometimes with dark spots at the base and buds hanging. petals overlapping at the base. Fruits globular with no hairs. In cultivated lands, specially cereals and waste lands.
