Its stem is erect, quadrangular, woody.
Leaves are sessile, opposite, lanceolate or elliptical.
Flowers in inflorescences of terminal spikes.
The flowers are lipped, blue, purple or white pink. Tetra-achenes fruit with black seeds inside.
