Rhamnus alaternus L. – (Mock privet)

Perennial shrub or tree of the Buckthorn family -rhamnaceae- up 5 m. Contorted stems. Ovate leaves, alternate, coriaceous, with slanting teeth at the margin and green on both sides. Yellow-greenish flowers in racemes. The fruit is a drupe, black in maturity. By the side of holm oaks of dry Mediterranean wood.
