Can tamarind have side effects?

No side effects have been reported for tamarind.

Tamarind is considered a food safe (GRAS – Generally Recognized As Safe) by the Department of Health in the United States when taken orally and in the amounts naturally present in food.

There is little information on it, so, if you have a disease or you are pregnant, we recommend checking with your doctor before taking tamarind.

Doses of Tamarind

  • Infusion: 30 g. of leaves per liter of water. Up to 3 cups daily.
  • Pulp: take 20 to 40g. tamarind pulp diluted in water up to 3 times daily.
