What is rapeseed oil good for?

Rapeseed oil is used as an industrial oil. Therefore, when we talk about the food benefits of rapeseed oil, we refer, in reality, to the food properties of Canola oil (Brassica napus) which is a variety of rapeseed genetically modified to be suitable for human consumption.

Nutritional properties of Canola oil

At a nutritional level, canola oil is recommended for consumption as it is an oil that gives us the benefits of its monounsaturated fatty acid content and the benefits of its low content of saturated fats, which makes it a very healthy oil for the nutrition and development of the cells of our organism.

But in addition to being recommended nutritionally, for its high content of oleic acid, which is monounsaturated, and its low content of saturated fats, it is recommended by the protective action it exerts on important organs such as the heart and the health of the arteries.

Canola oil against cardiovascular diseases

Canola oil prevents against coronary and vascular diseases such as thrombosis or arteriosclerosis, by preventing the accumulation of atherosclerotic plaques that can obstruct them, but it will also help us to prevent diseases such as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood by raising cholesterol HDL, that is, the good, and, in turn, lower LDL cholesterol, which is the bad.

Canola oil will prevent the oxidation of cholesterol and the production of an unwanted amount of free radicals, which would damage the cells of our organism oxidizing them prematurely and may trigger the development of unwanted serious diseases.

Canola oil for the liver and the bladder

In addition it also has beneficial effects on organs such as the liver and the gallbladder, helping them  rest by not having to metabolize saturated fats and decreasing the production of gallstones.

Canola oil for your brain

At the level of the central nervous system, it helps to maintain the connections well and, therefore, this effect will be reflected as good cerebral functioning, improving its functions and minimizing brain deterioration.
