Medicinal properties of Spanish juniper

Uses:

Medicinally, the essential oil has been used to combat warts and to calm attacks of rheumatism, through external topical application of this product.

Homeopathically, it has been used for the treatment of metrorrhagia and as an abortifacient, due to the ability of sabinol to contract the uterus and, therefore, cause abortion, in case of pregnancy. (oxytocic properties).

The leaves have been used to make decoctions for their emmenagogue properties, that is, they favor menstruation, and to eliminate intestinal worms.

Given its toxicity, home preparation of medicinal products is discouraged.

Precautions and toxicity of Spanish juniper

Sabina essential oil is very toxic. In case of ingestion of the essential oil, the consequences are dramatic, if a lethal dose is ingested, which for humans is estimated at approximately one gram or 5 or 6 drops of essential oil.
