Crataegus monogyna Jacq. – (Midland hawthorn)

Deciduous tree or shrub of the Rose family -rosaceae- up to 10 m. Erect stems with thorny branches. Alternate leaves, trilobated. White flowers till 1,5 cm, in flat corymbs; sweet-scented. The fruit is a drupe, bright red. In woods, hedges of scrub, steep banks.
