Properties of dal




- 1 cup of pink lentils

- 1 cup of water or vegetable stock (same proportion of lentils)

- 1 onion, cut into cubes

- 1 carrot into julienne type pieces

- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder

- ½ teaspoon cumin

- Olive oil

- Sal


- Wash, peel and chop all ingredients.

- Saute the onion with a little oil and salt for 5 minutes over medium-low fire.

- Add the carrot cut into small cubes. Cook with lid for 5 minutes.

- Add the turmeric and the cumin.

- Put a glass of water and the lentils.

- Cook for 3 minutes and serve.

Properties of dal

The Dal is a traditional Indian recipe very common in India as an appetizer or main course. In some regions it is crushed and and consumed pureed as hummus.

This preparation brings us the vegetable proteins from lentils and all the antioxidant properties from plant foods particularly from turmeric. In addition, turmeric is a spice with digestive properties.

Cumin gives a very distinctive flavor to the recipe, very warm and aromatic. Please use with small amounts and increase according to taste.
