Animal foods that are high in tryptophan
Among the foods of animal origin with much tryptophan we must point out:
- Fish, especially oily fish such as sardines, mackerel, tuna.
- milk and dairy products (yogurt, cheese, custard)
Plant foods that are high in tryptophan
Within each group, in order of highest to lowest amount, we have:
- Vegetables: Watercress, spinach, squash, asparagus, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, celery, onions, shallots, cabbage, garlic, lettuce, cassava, eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and endives.
